Postcard from Isernia 19 – “The Island That Exists” by Coppolicchio
Costantino Valentino, author of the book *L’isola che c’è* (published by Krono), felt compelled to commit his profound professional experience to the page—a book that everyone should read.
A young health and social care worker, he devotes himself wholeheartedly every day to the field of disability support. He carries out this work in Coppolicchio, a hamlet of Isernia (Molise, Italy). Also available for purchase online, the book recounts what happens “on the island” on a daily basis.
“Disability is not an illness, but a human condition. We can all experience it in life, whether temporarily or permanently…” states the WHO.
The staff at the Afasev facility in Isernia are well aware of this!
During the book presentation, the children and young people from the village of Coppolicchio gave a small yet wonderful gift to the guests of Afasev.
They gathered wildflowers.
They colored them with the most beautiful hues.
They combined their determination with love.
And so, they gave.
Deep gratitude to them 👏🏼🌸 and to the guests from Afasev—Christian, Emanuele, Cinzia, Domenico, Alessandro, and Antonella—for teaching us to live in the here and now!
And here is a new, must-share postcard from Isernia dedicated to them!
