Oggi è il giorno di Santa Lucia e questa data è stata scelta ad hoc per celebrare la “nascita” della luce.
A Isernia, questa luce viene celebrata tra i corridoi dell’Ospedale Veneziale, al terzo piano, nei reparti di Ostetricia e Pediatria.
Sulla locandina si legge a chiare lettere La Festa della Luce che di certo è un evento natalizio, in questa occasione però il centro dell’attenzione è il gesto che unisce famiglie, operatori sanitari e comunità attorno all’albero di Natale: simbolo di nuove luci e nuove vite.
Santa Lucia, nella tradizione popolare cristiana, è colei che protegge gli occhi: è rappresentata infatti con un piccolo vassoio in mano con dentro i suoi meravigliosi occhi.
Qui, idealmente, protegge anche lo sguardo sul domani.
Quello dei genitori in attesa.
Dei bambini appena nati.
Di chi lavora ogni giorno per custodire fragilità e speranze.
È ovviamente il reparto più colorato ed allegro di tutto l’ospedale: professionalità e grande dedizione contraddistingue il personale.
Accendere una luce, insieme, significa dire che la gioia è possibile anche nei luoghi della cura, che la nascita è sempre una promessa.
È l’emozione della gioia che dona l’aura a quella luce… che è la vita stessa!

In Isernia, the Department of Obstetrics and Pediatrics hosted the Festival of Light.
Today is the day of Saint Lucy, a date chosen ad hoc to celebrate the “birth” of light. In Isernia, this light is celebrated along the corridors of the Veneziale Hospital, on the third floor, in the Obstetrics and Pediatrics wards.
On the poster, the words The Festival of Light stand out clearly. It is certainly a Christmas event, but on this occasion the focus is on a gesture that brings families, healthcare professionals, and the community together around the Christmas tree: a symbol of new lights and new lives.
Saint Lucy, in Christian folk tradition, is the protector of sight. She is in fact depicted holding a small tray containing her beautiful eyes.
Here, symbolically, she also protects our gaze toward tomorrow.
The gaze of expectant parents.
Of newborn children.
Of those who work every day to safeguard fragility and hope.
It is, of course, the most colorful and joyful ward in the entire hospital: professionalism and great dedication distinguish the staff.
Lighting a light together means affirming that joy is possible even in places of care, that birth is always a promise. It is the emotion of joy that gives that light its aura… which is life itself!
